I Hate Spam!
Are you getting spammed here on Buzznet?
If you're like many of us here, you may have received messages offering you something for free, be it ring tones, music of all types, football jerseys, mp3 files and such. Does this seem a bit familiar to some of you?
The message to the phone spammers is very simple:

So what should one do?
There are no clear-cut answers on how to deal with the spammer, but if you wish to help eliminate them here on Buzznet, the steps are pretty simple.
- Don't panic or flip out! If you see a message or comment on one of your photos that looks similar to one of the above, especially those offering an external link to something for free, don't delete it - leave it alone! You can send Mark (panasonicyouth) a message about what you found, or you can leave it to me to deal with in a rather effective method, as others can tell you about... and it works.
- As noted above, leave the suspected spam alone. Let me know exactly where it is on your page, and if you can, a copy of the comment. If it's a Buzznet message, that was sent to you, just forward it to me (lexidiem) and I'll take it from there... and effectively so.
I've posted previous journal entries and photos on this subject here on Buzznet, including one on a similar ringtone spammer to the one first mentioned here. These have alerted many of you in the past, and as a result, by working together we've managed to get them deleted pretty quickly.
What's next?
More than a few of you have asked me how to eliminate spam from your own private e-mail messages, and I'm currently working on another installment to this series on how to effectively deal with spam on such services as Yahoo mail , Windows Live Mail (or Hotmail), and Gmail. Stay tuned here and you'll see it appear within the next few days.

Note: To those who are asking me where my Stopping Spam journal posts are going, I've been wasting my time for the last few hours trying to post some proactive solutions to this growing problem here on Buzznet.
I've become completely disgusted by my inability to post journals designed to help my fellow members on this site, and being told by Buzznet's new automated routines that my journals are spam, so I'm going to quit trying at this point, at least until such time that I can see that Buzznet has gotten their act together. This is the message that I've been getting:
This post looks like it's spam!
It's amazing that the spammers can post what they like, but loyal members of this community are treated as if they are worst than the spammers who are repeatedly hitting this site.
Get your act together, Buzznet - some us are trying to help!
yeah like when i tried to use the word val_trex in a comment, it told me i was spam!!!! =[
btw, i REALLY hope we don't have to start using Captchas on Buzznet. Theyre so annoying.
Spammer didn't have any problem sending it to ME.
I already know it's spam so I just leave it. There should be something like a tracker and profile identifier that tracks the traits of a poster. For instance, most spammers only have one photo of a half naked chick on their profile. There's usually no other information on their profile. Maybe before you can post you are required to build a profile up that you would do anyway if you were a legit poster, and if not your posting ability is locked up.
Kick their asses Lexi!
However you have to see it from buzznet's side any automated routine when faced with a real human trying to get round it is doomed to fail. unfortunately we're falling follow of there filters and aren't taking the time to feel out the boundaries and find out what's triggering them. and if buzznet tells us what gets round it they might as well chuck the entire system in the bin.
