Evolution

This is Dove's Evolution video from 2006, but when you finish looking at this, be sure to see their brand new video called Onslaught, created by Canada's Ogilvy & Mather, the same agency that created this one.

Here you'll see a fashion model going from dowdy to magnificent with the help of cosmetics and Photoshop. Yes, Dove is a company that manufactures skin, body cleansing and hair care products, but let's give them credit for taking a different approach towards making females of all ages feel beautiful everyday.

This video went on to win an unprecedented two 2007 Grand Prix Awards at Cannes Lions Live in June 2007. This obviously demonstrates a significant change in the advertising industry's attitudes towards women and their roles in society.

Its powerful. Watch it... then think about it.

It's unbelivable, that woman is not real and I think that the woman real, I mean the one without photoshopped is prettier than the other. I love Dove products and campaigns!

i used to talking about this all the time but i had never actually seen it, thank you for posting it. i always knew they photoshopped everything in ads but i didn't think they went as far as lengthening someones neck. talk about warping the perception of reality.

When I see images of woman in magazines, I know it's not real & this proves it.

It's interesting that the woman who is an illusion, a fake, that doesn't even exist is the standard that we women are trying to live up to.

That makes me really angry because I, like so many others, have bought into it. Especially as a young teenager when I was trying to be a 5'10" blonde, blue-eyed, willowy woman.

I was 5'2", brunette, brown-eyed squatty girl and never felt I measured up. If I had known about this kind of fakery then, I might have had an easier time accepting myself.

Thanks for posting this Lexi, it's never too late to become comfortable with myself.

Many thanks for the astute comments from all of you here. As a point of interest, the earlier posted Onslaught video, which is the newest in this series from Dove's Campaign for Real Beauty was picked as a Buzznet Featured Video on 10/6/2007.

As Bob Dylan said, "The times, they are a-changin'..."

I once took part in a fashion show as a model (yes, me!) and even though it was something very specific, not the 'normal type of modelling', I got an idea of how make up could *really* change someone's looks. Plus, you know those images you see on magazines showing the 'new make collection of the brand so-and-so'? You might not know this, but that's a lot of Photoshop! Most of times the colours are actually 'painted' on the photo!!

I've seen this one before, but it didn't hurt seeing it twice. It's a really good one!
